![]() The Pancake Pantry Gatlinburg is known for being Tennessee’s first pancake specialty restaurant and has been in existence for over 60 years. Even the complete strangers who we shared a sky lift with on the ride up to Anakeesta mentioned that they had eaten here after being recommended it by another traveler. This is probably also the most popular restaurant for breakfast in Gatlinburg because it’s the one I most often hear other people talking about. It sits at the heart of the Gatlinburg Strip, and when adorned in festive Christmas lighting during the holidays to offset the soft glow of its already eye-catching, decorative lanterns, it’s hard to resist the temptation to peer inside those large glass windows and wonder just what type of treats they’re serving inside. If my review helps 1 person redirect their business to a friendlier, customer based restaurant (Flapjacks Pancake House) that provides professional prepared food with appreciation and a smile, then I am effective. In my years of traveling I've NEVER had such an awful, poorly executed response to rejection of inadequately prepared food. There modum is if you order you will pay, regardless if you are satisfied or not. If 1500 people in 1 day are satisfied with no complaint, is it not common sense they would strive for 1501 satisfied customers? Nine million people visit Gatlinburg, TN and to take this measure against a complaint is incomprehensible. No restaurant worth their investment would treat a customer by calling the police to solve a common complaint. We were fine to pay a discounted rate of the meal and treated like criminals because I did not like the preparation. The owner and manager preferred the $31.48 vs a satisfied customer and a positive outcome. My intent: To warn those who are swayed by reviews on Trip Advisor and other travel sites to STRONGLY RECONSIDER Log Cabin Pancake House as place to spend your money. ![]() Long term result: Owner did not speak to me to resolve the issue prior to police arriving and openly told me he did not want my business. Really? The end result was the police were called and cited TN law is if you taste the food you are required to pay for it. ![]() I explained and her retort was that 1500 people were there and no one complained. The manager was defensive from my 1st word and insisted I ate some of the food so I was required to pay for it. This restaurant, and I use the word very loosely, is the epitome of embarrassment and extremely poor customer service in the restaurant industry! I was dissatisfied with 2 entrees and was willing to pay for everything eaten except improperly made gravy and acidic pancakes which left an aftertaste. Breakfast is a universal simple meal and based on the multitude of pancake themed restaurants in Gatlinburg, TN it is profitable. But that is the ONLY good point of visit to Log Cabin Pancake House. ![]()
